Description:
Politician, farmer, soldier, businessman, botanist and accomplished musician, Michael Blundell lived his 68 years in Kenya to the full. His contribution to agriculture is overshadowed, perhaps, by his politi¬cal life towards the end of which he played a significant part in Kenya's peaceful transition from colonial rule to independence.
His memoir of Kenya, a follow-up to his autobiography, So Rough a Wind, published in 1964, is a lively and witty account of Blundell's early farming days, of his years leading African troops in the war and of his role in the political changes that led to independence in 1963. His comments on famous people, and some not so famous, are trenchant and revealing, though never unkind.
